Valerie Steel
The designated broker, Valerie Steel, imagined a new kind of real estate company. She realized that there were green builders and green customers, but educated real estate professionals were few and far between. She launched Greening Properties, Inc. in 2006.
Valerie began in real estate San Francisco and devoted much of her career to research and development and property management related to adaptive re-use of antiquated industrial space as artist live/work studios. She has been licensed in Washington since 1994 and has successfully negotiated and closed hundreds of real estate transactions for satisfied clients throughout Puget Sound. She earned the designation of Built Green Certified Real Estate Professional.
As a local community energizer, she’s had the pleasure of serving on the Everett Council of Neighborhoods and the board of the Sustainable Development Task Force of Snohomish County for many years. She is a founder and current board member of the Everett Shorelines Coalition which was formed to protect, restore and enhance the shorelines of the Greater Everett Area. She is also a charter member, and recent President, of Historic Everett which identifies structures of historic significance and works for their preservation and restoration. All of these groups achieve success through active stewardship, advocacy and education.
A special joy in life is the certified backyard wildlife habitat garden at her 1915 craftsman bungalow in the Bayside Neighborhood.
